Un important milestone for the BüfoBus has been reached: thanks to our new SIM cards, we were able to test the first bookings under real conditions in recent days. Not only were trips created in the system, but the entire communication between passengers and drivers via SMS was also tested.
Reliable and simple communication is particularly important for a social mobility service like our citizen call service. Not every passenger uses a smartphone or wants to install an app. That is why we deliberately rely on SMS as an additional communication channel – because even simple mobile phones can receive SMS.
The first tests were very successful: booking confirmations, changes, and notifications were automatically sent to the people involved. The driving team can now even inform passengers directly via SMS when the bus is approaching the pickup location.
In parallel, the platform was further developed in recent days. New additions include a secure login via SMS code, a dedicated URL shortener for short and clear messages, and numerous improvements for mobile use by our drivers.
It was particularly important to us to combine modern technology with simple usability. Digitalization must not exclude anyone. Therefore, in addition to the new online functions, we will continue to support and expand telephone booking. Our goal remains to make mobility accessible to all people in Dettingen an der Erms – regardless of age, technical experience, or device used.
With each successful test, we get a step closer to our launch. A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteer helpers who support us in the practical tests.
